These are two nights from Bears Perth Inc's visits to Skandalous, which was a Venue in East Perth, in 2006, including the first men's night held at the venue.
It was a really great venue in terms of being shiny, new and clean. There was a outdoor area at the front near the entrance for folks to smoke and check out the new arrivals, so that suited Paul, even tho he was a non smoker!
The strippers were very friendly and the crowd seemed to enjoy them and some of Perth's well known drag queens are pictured in this image set. The Staff and Owners were always great to work with and the venue's free community advertising for groups and not for profits was a real community builder and a first of it's kind and it's disappointing that the idea was not stolen by other venues.
The images also document the competitive nature of the photography industry that exists in Perth. Instead of respect and harmonious work places, some photographers and outlets are notorious for their "competitive" strategies such as walking in front of another's shot or setting up in front after the show has started.
Quite frankly while the AIDS Industry in WA has a reputation for being bullies, Fagmedia, is known for telling the truth and sadly there are many other groups/individuals that have given Perth's LGB, HIV and Trans Communities a reputation for being Bitchy, Nasty and Backstabbing.
Perhaps this is why the LGB, HIV and Trans Community Groups all seem to struggle to get new members and bums on seats at their events? Western Australia's thriving mining industry has brought in many national and international people and so the Heterosexual Community seems to be the preferred option for many who wish to avoid the toxicity of the Alphabet Soup Community.
It is true that Fagmedia "retired" from covering events in the LGB, HIV and Trans Community because we became tired of trying to work with the factional warlords, petty tyrants and wannabe dictators who took over after many of Perth's friendly and most talented event organisers embarked on careers overseas and in the Eastern States.
